When a cat is purring (发出咕噜声), murmuring (小声叫), meowing or yowling (吼叫), can you understand what it is trying to say to you? Susanne Schotz at Lund University, Sweden, did a research on cats’ language as well as how humans understand the “meowsic”. 当一只猫发出咕噜声、小声地喵喵叫或是吼叫的时候，你能理解它想说什么吗？瑞典隆德大学的苏珊娜·肖茨做了一项关于猫咪的语言以及人类如何理解“猫咪语”的研究。
According to the study, when cats want food from their owners, their sounds rise in pitch (音高). If the cats are worried about a trip to the vet (兽医), they drop their pitch. She also found that human owners could usually guess the cats’ feelings from their sounds. It seems that when it comes to cats, practice makes purrfect! 研究发现，当猫咪想吃东西时，它们会用更高的音调叫；害怕去见兽医时，它们的音调则会较低。研究人员还发现，主人通常都可以从自家猫咪的音调明白它们想表达什么！看来，对于理解猫咪想法来说，熟能生巧！ 谁能拒绝一只喵喵叫的小猫咪呢！ |
